The original windows of the Bradford Center Meetinghouse, built in 1838, were restored in 2022-2023, funded by a grant from the New Hampshire Preservation Alliance in partnership with the 1772 Foundation, individual donations, and matching funds from the Woodward and Ellie James Foundation.
Olde Window Restorers of Warner, NH, removed two 20/20 windows at a time to restore in their shop, where they first carefully removed and preserved the window glass, some of it original. After stripping away layers of old paint, and repairing damaged wood, they were ready to paint. Original glass was returned, and in some cases, cracked panes were able to be repaired almost invisibly with a special epoxy. Meticulously glazed and painted with marine grade paint, we expect the restored windows to hold up to the elements for many years to come! We deeply appreciate the fine craftsmanship of Alden Witham and Colin Nevins of Olde Window Restorers. And many thanks to our generous donors who made the project possible.
