Education & Enlightenment

Education and enlightenment go hand in hand. Our goal in preserving the Schoolhouse and

Meetinghouse is to provide insights into the past here at Bradford Center in hopes of facing our

future with understanding and respect. To that end, we offer a variety of educational programs

in addition to the concerts you will see listed on our Entertainment/Events page. In the past,

the Meetinghouse has been a lyceum where folks could hear lectures as well regular church

services. In recent years, we have likewise conducted political forums, historical reenactments,

family art workshops, tours, and school field trips.

In the 1850s, Bradford Center was the hub of the town but with the advent of the railroad line

in the valley, commerce gradually shifted a few miles away. Now, in order to keep this

landmark in the public eye we publish monthly articles in the local newspaper highlighting our

events and inviting the community to become involved.

Indeed, people can often be seen lounging on our Green or enjoying a picnic at our tables

under the shade of the maple trees. There is no better place for contemplation than in this

natural, historical setting.
