Bradford Center Meetinghouse is a beloved landmark for many people. Joyous weddings,
touching memorials and thoughtful gatherings of all kinds have endeared this place to all who
enter. Our Christmas Eve Pageant has inspired sweet testimonials from folks who now consider
it an essential element for engendering their holiday spirits.
For several decades in the mid-1900s, the Meetinghouse fell into disuse until a group of
volunteers felt inspired to revitalize it. That’s when the pageant tradition was born and families
sought the space for weddings and memorials. The volunteer groups have changed names and
membership over the years, often passing to the next generation. Major restoration efforts
were done by the 3Rs Society to restore the Schoolhouse in time for Bradford’s Bicentennial in
1987. The Union Congregational Society refreshed the stenciling in 2005, and the Friends of the
Bradford Center Meetinghouse most recently reconditioned the original windows. Each group
also oversaw regular maintenance of the buildings. All of this was with the intent of sharing this
landmark with the public to uphold our mission towards Education, Enlightenment and
Education.
And now every summer, the Friends of the Bradford Center Meetinghouse provides a concert
series that includes diverse musical genres in order to appeal to everyone. Below you can see
the line-up for this past summer. We also host Community Sing Alongs that have proved to be
very popular. Keep an eye out for the 2025 offerings in the New Year.
